SAN FERNANDO -- Binibining Pilipinas-Universe Carla Gay Balingit,
a simple and gifted beauty from Mexico town, asked Monday all Pampangueños
to pray for her safety and victory in the scheduled Miss Universe
pageant in Panama, South America.
Balingit, who was given a commendation by Gov. Lito Lapid and the
Provincial Board Monday, is expected to take off May and would stay
in Panama until the pageant on June 3.
The governor also donated a P50,000 cash gift to the family of
Balingit while the provincial board lauded and honored her for winning
the coveted crown in the recently held Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
The simple turn over ceremony was held at the Capitol executive
house Monday.
The governor led the simple rite and was assisted by Board Member
Ferdinand Labung, Board Member Edna David, Provincial Administrator
Benalfre Galang, Provincial Treasurer Jovito Sabado, Provincial
Budget Officer Nida Manalad, Provincial Social Welfare Officer Lutchie
Gutierrez, the Quota International and other Capitol chiefs of offices.
In her brief speech, Balingit vowed not to change even though blessed
with fame, success and beauty.
Instead, she asked for the Kapampangan's support and prayers so
she could overcome difficulties in the coming Miss Universe Pageant.
Balingit said she believes that her fate in the last Binibining
Pilipinas pageant was God's will.
